About Our Staff

Owners Bruce and Amy Storts grew up in a small, rural town in eastern Missouri, but they have called Blue Springs home since 1973. In establishing AAS Restoration, they have used their small-town sensibility and strong work ethic to set unmatched quality and customer service standards. Those standards are still the hallmark of AAS Restoration today because Bruce and Amy look for that same sense of integrity and high values in everyone they employ.

Bruce, CEO and President, attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, served in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War, and worked eleven years as an adjuster for an area insurance company. When the couple purchased AAS Restoration Inc. (formerly known as Missouri Contracting & Cleaning, Inc.) in 1984, Bruce simply jumped over the fence to work the construction side of claims, bringing with him the first-hand knowledge of how insurance claims are processed.

Amy, Secretary/Treasurer and Director of Administration, attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and worked as a substitute teacher before starting AAS Cleaning Systems in 1982. Little did she know that it would become one of the premier contents-cleaning and water-remediation companies (now known as AAS Restoration, Inc.) in the Kansas City Metro area.

The Stortses have three children and ten grandchildren, all who live in the Metro area. Their oldest son, Stephen, has worked in their restoration business since 1993 after completing a four-year tour in the Navy. He served in the first Gulf War aboard the USS Worden as an air traffic controller. Stephen has worked at every level of the business—from laborer to estimator to manager. He is a Certified Mold Remediator and a Certified Remodeler, as well as the lead estimator for AAS. Stephen is Vice President and Director of Operations.

The production managers are Scott Baldwin in the structural reconstruction division and Bruce Cave in the water-mitigation and the contents divisions. Scott is a Certified Remodeler, a Certified Management Trainer, and a Certified Green Risk Professional. He has been with AAS Restoration since 2003, after attaining 19 years of experience as a building materials and supplies sales representative. Bruce is a Journeyman Textile Cleaner, a Journeyman Water Restorer, and Journeyman Fire and Smoke Restorer with numerous other IICRC certifications. He is a Green Risk Professional and a Vortex Drying Specialist and he is certified in biohazard cleanup. Bruce has been with AAS Restoration since 2002 and has twelve prior years experience in water-restoration services. In addition to his duties as production manager, he also serves as the lead estimator for his divisions.

The project managers are Troy Baker and Andrea Davis. Troy has been with AAS since 2007. Prior to joining the AAS team, he worked in the construction business for 15 years and the restoration field another ten years. Troy also helps as an estimator. Andrea has been connected to AAS Restoration since 2002 with an additional five years prior experience in the restoration field. She is a Journeyman Textile Cleaner and Journeyman Fire and Smoke Restorer. She is certified in numerous other IICRC classes, including carpet cleaning; upholstery and fabric cleaning; stone, masonry, and ceramic tile cleaning; mold; and water-damage restoration.

Tradesmen for AAS Restoration are John Walker, Don McKenzie, and Shane Galloway. John, a Certified Lead Carpenter, has been with the company since 1996. Shane, a lead painter, has been with AAS since 2001. Don, another lead painter, has been in the construction field since 1971 and with AAS since 2007.

AAS technicians have IICRC certifications for each type of restoration work they perform. These range from Odor Control to Carpet, Upholstery, Fabric, and Textile Cleaning to Water, Fire, and Smoke Restoration. Techs that have been with AAS Restoration from one to seven years include Steve Dayringer, Blayke Mancini, Shelly Shrout, D.J. Ruhnke, and Pam Ruhnke. Pam is the contents-cleaning division's crew chief and has been in the restoration business since 1999. Shelly is the lead biohazard-cleanup technician.

Cheryl Holbrook is the lead technician in the laundry and sports-gear cleaning division. She joined AAS in 2008, but has worked in the laundry/dry cleaning industry since 1990. Cheryl is certified through the CCRN (Certified Contents Restoration Network) and is trained to run the Esporta Wash System.

Marketing representatives are Vicki Sutcliffe and Dorene Henry. They call on insurance agents, property managers, athletic directors, and coaches. Vicki owned her own business for twenty-three years before joining the AAS family in 2003. Dorene, also a former business owner for twelve years, joined the AAS team in 2008. Both Vicki and Dorene are involved in many community organizations, including BOMA, Blue Goose, GKCFCA, BNI, and their local community's Chamber of Commerce.

The office personnel are administrative manager, Mary Salva; office manager, Sherry Early; and receptionist/collections manager, Melody Walrath. They have been with AAS since 2003, 2004, and 2006 respectively with more than a combined seventy-five years of experience serving in administrative positions.
